JC Pohl and Valerie Rivera brought the RISING UP: Coaching Program to CIS – Hidalgo County on 12.3.15 and our newly developed “Train the Trainer” event was an unparalleled success! Not only did 25 schools receive access to the RISING UP curriculum, but the staff members of CIS – Hidalgo County were able to participate in a 3-hour event that helped form better relationships across their team and gave a greater understanding of the RISING UP: Coaching Program Curriculum. Elements of the training focused on the philosophy behind RISING UP’s peer-to-peer based approach, information about the ASCA Professional School Counseling Model, and experiential activities connected to the RISING UP: Coaching Program and our work in schools. We are excited to reach students in and around McAllen, TX and plan to work with additional CIS groups in the future!
